March 11th 2018.

Today marks the 4th week of my diet or to put it more accurately,  my healthy living to try and drop some weight before our latest trip to New York in September. Up to last week, things had been going great as I dropped 10 pounds in 3 weeks. This week though, I have been my own worst enemy as I have put 2 pounds of that back on. I found some biscuits and mince pies from Christmas, and when you combine that with potatoes with some meals, it was never going to be a good week. I had some not too healthy food in the freezer which I feel I needed to use up, that hasn't helped. We had friends over and it was like it was Christmas Day and all bets were off eating wise, daft. I need to put this into context and say it is an 8 pound weight loss over a 4 week period. If I can lose weight at 2 pounds over the coming months, then that is me down a shed load of weight. I am annoyed with myself as I know what to do and I think there has been a bit of lazy eating this week rather than taking time to cook us something tasty and healthy. My walking is going ok and I need to hold onto that and the fact that if I am sensible, I can get back on track in the coming week.

March 9th 2018.
I spent an hour on Friday evening taking a few pictures of a friend. I was pleased with how this one turned out. The first time I have used some lighting indoors and this one turned out ok.

Winter returns to York with a bang as The Beast from The East drifts in from Eastern Europe. The country is frozen up for a few days, so it is important to keep feeding the birds. I want to get out stocks of bird food used up so that the birds do not become dependant on me in the better weather. My feeding time is Winter for the birds.

I guess on a journey blog like this I need to share the good and the bad. On the good side, I am heading for my 3rd consecutive month of walking 200,000 steps a month.

On the bad side, I am eating like a total idiot and put a full 3 pounds on last week. In Spring 2015, I hit my life high weight and then in the rest of 2015, I did really well and dropped about 30 pounds. As of tonight, I am within 2 pounds of that horrible all time high. I lost the weight by avoiding a lot of bread, pasta, crisps, cakes, potatoes, ie carbs and went more onto meat with a high fat content and plenty of veg. I felt great then, now I do not. All the aches and pains are back and this risks messing up the hoped for trip to New York again in the fall. My lovely clothes that I wear when away will be tight and uncomfortable.

I have eaten everything this week from my former banned list and in quantity. The daft thing is that I like low carb eating, I just started to eat the bad stuff again. I need to sort myself out and listen to my Vinnie Tortorich audiobook and his podcasts. I need to post on here every Sunday to make myself accountable in the process.

January 2018.

Great away win for Taddy Albion yesterday and an impressive draw for Leicester City away at Chelsea. The LCFC cup replay against Fleetwood is on BT Sports on Tuesday evening. Good to watch some of Englanda cricket win in Australia for breakfast today. So a good sporting weekend.

I think it was good for English football at the weekend as Liverpool beat Manchester City. It will need a few more defeats for them before the Premiership becomes a competition this season. You can't blame City for being so very good, its up to the others to try and catch up.

Having had our holidays in New York for the last 2 years, we are now looking for other options in USA for this year. I spent some time looking at Houston yesterday. I like a good public transport system to have a rest from the car.

For the last few months I have spent time watching YouTube. Amazing the amount of material on there. If what I read is true, very interesting times are coming in the  USA.  It watches like a tv series at the moment. Fascinating but very scary at the same time.

After a lovely relaxing weekend, What a soggy start to the working week at 7am this morning. Roll on the warmer and drier days of Summer. Good away win for Taddy at the weekend and a professional performance in the FA Cup for The Foxes. Roll on a dry weekend at Tad for snapping.

Interesting things starting to occur in the US. A much calmed weather day here today to push on and to get things done. My monthly walking challenge is coming to an end and I have a shot at the 200k target for the 2nd succesive month. Time to walk over the line and build on that.

November 2017.
The last few months have reminded me of the importance of health and basic stamina to all my family. If the basics are not in order, then the fun bits like footie are too much of a challenge at present. I look forward to better times for all. Footie will be back again one day.

I was born and brought up in a very multiracial area of England in Leicester. I am proud of that fact. Our different backgrounds should be our strength. I love social media but there are days when I hate it as retweets give the spotlight of publicity on a worldwide stage.
